A caption was shown, notifying that to activate my copy within 30 days, failure will terminate usage of OS. MSE showed a similar caption. Tried to re-instal MSE, unable to do so, as a copy of MSE is already installed. At present computer is working properly, am I under a 30 days lease?

The Activate button was not shown. Clicking, transfered you to Microsoft MSE web site, to download MSE, which I did.

Click Start, right-click Computer and select Properties, (or simply press [Winkey]+[Pause]). Then down at the bottom in that screen that pops up, under "Windows Activation" and above your "Product ID ", you should see the string "Windows is activated ".

If you do, you're good to go. If not, recommend you start slinging hoards of cash, or a simple explanation Microsoft's way. ;)

SpywareDr, many thanks for response. Carried out details and find that OS is indeed activated, with Id: reference number shown. Updates from MS have installed correctly for sometime now. Reason for caption, is certainly unclear to me.

Not clear at all that everything is in order here ; does the caption still pop -up at start-up ? Same happened to me with a ultimate version of Windows 7 bought on Amazon'site through a reseller ( who proved to be a crook) ; all of a sudden at startup black screen! nothing ; reinstalling the OS did not allow activation : the key was for an MDSN licence and forbidden to be sold ; Microsoft blocked the OS ; check carefully wether you got a valid key unless you are absolutely sure ; because even if update process goes on , one day or another you might get a blackscreen on startup

tchapaiev, caption discussed, displayed only the once though it did say that it had only 7 days to be corrected. Windows Vistas installed in computer by HP the manufacturer of the computer, upgrade to Window 7 (official disk) offered again by HP at a cost of special offer of £29. Activation code has never been rejected or questioned by Microsoft since release of Windows 7.

Today, read teletext printed that Microsoft computers have been hacked. Microsoft have said, not heard from customers that their computers where also hacked.

I agree in what you say, I will wait and see what happens in 30 days time. No other members of Windows BBS, appear to have received word on activate their installed Windows 7.

What do you suggest? Malwarebytes software does not report any errors.

Tchapaeiv, any help is always appreciated. After computer guarantee is no longer valid HP shows no interest or give help.
